A Christmas Present From Peru – Mireya Graduates!

Dec 28, 2019 | Students

On December 23, Mireya graduated from high school in Tarapoto, Peru! We sadly could not attend the graduation, but we received some great photos from Mireya’s mother, Jessica. Mireya has grown up before our eyes, and the culmination of her high school career was to be chosen to give the welcome to all the assembled guests at the celebration. There are photos and a video of her very impressive and poised speech on her page, which we hope you’ll visit. All the graduates wore red and black, and it was a very elegant affair. Mireya told us that they don’t do a “diploma” ceremony as they do in other places, and that the big fancy party is the actual ceremony.

Mireya now prepares to take her entrance exam to get into the university. She wants to study law, and we will be supporting her through her first year. After that, when she turns 18, she will be inheriting some money from a benefactor, so our role will be over. But we will keep you informed of her progress. Seeing her growth into a young woman over the past few years, we have no doubt that she will be successful at whatever she puts her mind to. Congratulations, Mireya! And thank you so much to all who helped her graduate.

We are so grateful to all of you who have taken an interest in these girls’ futures, and we wish all of you a very happy New Year!
