Annual Report and Lots of News

Jan 17, 2020 | Corporate, Organization, Students

Our 2019 year end report is up on our Annual Reports page, so please check that out when you have a chance. It was a big year and we’re excited to tell you about it!

We’ve also received news from several countries. Please check out their pages!

  • In Mexico, Angela is simply rocking it in school! Her midterms grades are really high, and we also received some photos of a very cool extracurricular activity she was part of. We’re so proud of her; despite the fact that there’s been a bit of an upheaval at her school and she is faced with learning from substitute teachers who often don’t seem to know much, she is persisting in doing the best she can—and that appears to be just about the best anyone can do!

    • In Nepal, the girls are on vacation for a couple weeks now, but they have all passed their mid term exams and they made us some wonderful holiday cards. Please check out their pages to see them, including two short videos of Amrita and Roshani wishing us happy new year in English!

  • In Guatemala, Valentina has finished second grade with honors and is getting ready to enter third grade. She is such a solid student that she was a flag bearer and valedictorian this year—and she won second place in a school-wide chess competition!

And finally, we are all working hard for our annual fundraiser on March 1. This year, we have been able to convince a lot of teachers and students from the Flagstaff Unified School District to participate. We will be focusing on our scholarship recipients and the countries they come from, and local students and community artists are creating art that recalls the ten countries we support girls in. We’re calling it “Global Art for Girls’ Education,” and we’re really excited to hear how much the students from Flagstaff are getting into researching our girls and learning about them to in order to make art for the event. We’ll let you know when we have all the details arranged, but we hope you’ll mark your calendars and plan to come!
