Some Great News from Nicaragua and Nepal

Sep 5, 2022 | Students

We have some wonderful news about three of our current and former students from Nicaragua and Nepal. This is the kind of news that makes us very happy!

In Nepal, Bharosha did well enough on her national exam after 10th grade that she has been accepted to 11th Grade in nursing! She will be attending Baylor College for 11th and 12th Grades before going on to the university to study nursing proper. Baylor is in Banepa, which is about 5 km from Dhulikhel. Congratulations to Bharosha!

In Nicaragua, Belen has been accepted for a post-secondary scholarship to pay for her university studies in English.

And also in Nicaragua, the board received an application from Karina to start a business. She sent us the answers to the questions on our post-secondary application, along with a very impressive plan to start a tourism business on her grandfather’s farm in her village. We were so impressed with her answers and her business plan that we awarded her the money she asked for. She will receive it in chunks and make a formal request for each chunk, along with a detailed accounting of how she spent the monies. She agreed happily to those conditions, and even suggested beforehand that we not give her any money until she has cleared all the legal and permit hurdles.

She clearly learned so much in the university, and has put that to good work creating a business plan. Please visit her page to read all of her answers and her plan. You won’t regret it! What an impressive young woman she is!

Thank you again for all your support. It is more than gratifying to see these young women move towards their goals in life, and you all are the reason they are doing so.

We hope you all have wonderful last days of your summer!
