Hello everyone and happy April! We are so delighted to be able to tell you about the recent successes of two of our students.
First, Michel got a permanent teaching job! She has been substitute teaching in El Sauce and as you might expect, that does not pay much. She was getting a little discouraged about ever getting a permanent position, but we encouraged her to keep going to the administration and checking, and not to give up. And it paid off! She is now teaching 4th grade in a primary school about 14 kilometers to the north of El Sauce, in a little town called Rio Grande. She has about 30 students and she says she just loves it. We are so proud of her! We’ve attached a photo off the internet of her school, but we hope to update this soon with some actual photos from us or from her.

Second, Elizabeth graduated from the university and received her diploma! We are still supporting her for her last year of her studies, which isn’t actually studies at all, but doing her “social,” her year of work for the government before she can get her “titulo” and actually be able to practice on her own. So she’s done with studies and internships and all that, and in one year, she will be done with all of it and ready to run her own clinic!

We simply could not be prouder of these two incredible young women. They never gave up, and they kept at it despite a lot of challenges.
Congratulations, Michel and Elizabeth! And thank you to all of you who have donated to make their dreams a reality.
Birgit, Christa, Janeece, Leslie, and Meghan
