Letters From Guatemala

We received the mid-term letters from Alicia and Maria in Guatemala, and we have translated them for you here. They are both doing well and enjoying being in school, which we are very happy to hear. Enjoy!

Describe what you are learning in your classes: I am learning to read, write, add and multiply. Also how to care for the environment.
Choose at least one class and explain what most interests you about it and what you are learning: I like my language class because the teacher is very good. She is teaching us how to write well.
What most interests you and why: I like to talk with my sisters when they come to work in the afternoon. We talk about everything while we make supper.
Describe five goals that you would like to accomplish during the rest of the year:
– Learn how to read more
– Get better grades in social sciences
– Learn how to sew on a machine
– Learn how to write more
– Take care of my grandmother so she isn’t alone

Describe what you are learning in your classes: I am learning accounting class, like how to make an inventory and how to explain when there is a presentation, and also I am learning how to speak in Spanish more.
Choose at least one class and explain what most interests you about it and what you are learning: I like accounting class because they explain when we don’t understand something and what interests me the most is the daily inventory journal that they are teaching us to learn more, and it’s important for having a career.
What most interests you and why: What interests me the most is to continue learning in my classes which are the most important for my career, like accounting, math and statistics and to have a good understanding of them to have work and help my family.
Describe five goals that you would like to accomplish during the rest of the year:
– to continue learning
– get good grades for the third quarter
– look for how to travel in the rainy season
– help my family with things around the house
– help my sisters with their homework
